Flora and Fauna Woodcrafts was born out of my longstanding enjoyment of gardening, birding, and woodworking.

I began cultivating a vegetable garden in the 4th grade, and apart from a few years while off in school, I have been planting one ever since.  Over the years I have expanded my gardens to include fruits and berries and wonderful asparagus rows.  When my daughter was going through college we even borrowed some land to grow vegetables that we sold at Charlottesville's City Market to help with expenses.

I caught the birding bug from my son while spending time with him during his biology doctoral studies.  In addition to nearly daily birding outings I have begun managing our yard to make it more bird and wildlife friendly.

And starting as a child when I would ride to a local lumber yard to fill my bike basket with small pieces of scrap wood I have enjoyed wood working.

Upon retiring in 2020 from a lengthy church pastorate I took some time off before starting part-time ministry that would enable me to pursue other interest including this small woodworking business.

I am still developing inventory that will be useful to anyone wanting to encourage birds and extend their gardening seasons.  And I am always happy to quote a price for an item I do not currently make, or a different size of an item I do make.  I work mostly in cedar which is rot resistant, purchased from the building supply store in Crozet, VA.  I work out of a small shop/cellar under our kitchen in an older home we are restoring in Crozet.
